National Foundation for Development of Indigenous nationalities 20th Steering Committee meeting was held on 05th May 2020 chaired by honorary prime minister of Nepal Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli at Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, Kathmandu. NFDIN’s deputy chairman minister Hridesh Tripathy of Federal Affairs & General Administration Ministry, Other ministry officials, Planning Commission’s vice chairman and committee members attended this meeting. Despite worldwide COVID 19 pandemic and state lockdown, meeting was held with preventive measures of mask, gloves, sanitizer and social distancing. Prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli addressing the meeting that being only a government agency to overlook indigenous peoples issues of Nepal, NFDIN needs to be more capable, productive and develop for its continuity.
Second closed session of the meeting was chaired by NFDIN’s Vice Chairman Mr. Chandra Bahadur Gurung. As NFDIN’s Vice Chairman, Member Secretary and Executive committee members 4 years tenure came to an end soon, this meeting is necessary to conduct to fulfill the vacant positions even the circumstances is difficult with COVID 19 Coronavirus pandemic lockdown. Many committee members have travelled to Kathmandu from various parts of Nepal to attend this meeting. NFDIN presented its program progress report for F/Y 2019/20 and proposed new budget for F/Y 2020/21. As per the NFDIN Act 2058 election was regulated to elect 1 member Mr. Gyanendra Pun for Vice Chairman Nomination Committee. Similarly Mr. Mukunda Bahadur Pahari, Mr. Jiwan Kumar Rai and Mr. Deepak Kumar Yakkha (3 members) were elected for Executive committee Nomination Committee from the meeting to fulfill the vacant position of NFDIN new leadership.
